Let’s put an end to homelessness in our community!
T.A.C.H.'s Mission is to create a healthier community by providing care for individuals who area at risk of or are experiencing homelessness and addressing the complex needs of these individuals through a coalition of local citizens and community groups.
In November 2013, following the tragic death of a child in Tahlequah, the rooming house in which his family lived was closed because of code violations and the residents were turned out with nowhere to go. A group of concerned citizens rose up and began to work together to help these families. The attention brought to the plight of the homeless through this tragedy made a need known that before had been recognized by very few.
Alarmed by the plight of those in need of housing several small groups formed in efforts to help. As these groups began working to meet needs they became aware of one another's efforts and held a public meeting to see if they could somehow support one another in the effort to overcome homelessness in Tahlequah and the surrounding community.
Through that meeting the Tahlequah Area Coalition for the Homeless (T.A.C.H.) was formed. The founding purpose of T.A.C.H. is to create a healthier community by providing care for individuals who are at risk or are homeless and addressing the complex needs of these individuals through a coalition of local citizens and community groups.
We invite you to join our open meetings on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 7:00pm at the Tahlequah Day Center, 309 S. Muskogee in Tahlequah at the rear entrance. At these meetings we discuss how we can work together to address the needs of our areas homeless and at-risk population, brainstorm, and develop solutions.
